A dedicated podiatry clinic in Barnham, Bognor Regis

After many years in our previous clinic, Prescription Footwear Associates' purpose-built podiatry clinic in Barnham, West Sussex, opened in March 2004. The facility was expanded in 2018 to include a larger reception and waiting area, and gait analysis laboratory with walkway and treadmill. The consulting rooms and measurements laboratory are next to the orthotics workshop, so adjustments and alterations are often carried out while you wait.

The clinic utilises high-tech measuring and manufacturing equipment to provide clients with an exceptional, tailored service. Prescription Footwear Associates is easily accessible by road via the A29 or A27, and parking is available. Our nearest railway station is Barnham Junction. The clinic has disabled access and toilet facilities.

Orthopedic Insoles

We can provide:

  • Video gait analysis – this involves walking or running either on the treadmill or along the walkway whilst being filmed. This footage can then be slowed down and analysed in detail by the clinician who will explain the findings in relation to your presenting condition. Video gait analysis looks at the leg and body movement and timings. Slowing the video down and viewing the different stages of gait can help identify certain movements that may be triggering or exacerbating your injury.

  • 3D scanning for the production of made-to-measure footwear. The state-of-the-art scanner is used to capture the foot and/or leg for custom made footwear and higher level orthotics such as ankle foot orthoses. Plaster of Paris casting is still sometimes required but the scanner is often able to save time and mess, whilst providing precise measurements and shapes.

  • Computer Aided Design/Computer Aided Manufacturing - CAD/CAM for short - is used for custom orthotics and some components of footwear manufacture. A laser scanner is used to take details of the foot or foam box impression, allowing a 3D model to be generated on computer software, that is then milled out using a milling machine. The details are stored electronically allowing for repeat production without the need to repeat the measurements.

Our charges

The charge for an initial orthotic assessment is £95; a bio-mechanical assessment with Gait analysis is £105. If a short report is required, an additional £50 charge will apply (not including medical legal reports).

Basic podiatry sessions are £45 per half-hour appointment.

Nail surgery starts at £300 for one toe-nail and £50 for each additional nail. This includes dressings and 4 review appointments.

Additional fees for orthotic aids

An estimate of costs for orthoses and/or footwear will be made after your initial assessment appointment. This will include the manufacturing costs and clinical time. The cost will also include one review appointment and minor alterations to devices.

Subsequent appointments, measuring, fitting, manufacture and supply of orthoses will be charged on a pro-rata basis.

In some cases the final account may be less than the estimate. Whilst every effort is made to provide an accurate estimate initially, this may vary during the fitting process and any variation in cost will be discussed when this occurs.

Payment for initial consultations is required on the day.

"There aren't enough stars to award this wonderful company. They have been in my life, making my calipers for over 35 years. They are the supreme best in their field and I owe them my whole independent, walking life. You can't put a price on that."
