Orthotics

What are Orthoses and what do they do?

An Orthosis is a device that supports, corrects and/or contains musculoskeletal deformities and/or abnormalities of the human body. There are different types of orthoses, including insoles, drop foot splints, ankle/knee/hip braces and the Patella Tendon Bearing Orthosis, to name a few.

Foot problems can be hereditary and several generations of a family may suffer with similar problems. Preventative foot care is available to all ages through PFA.

The way the feet make contact when weight bearing has a mechanical affect on the alignment of the hips and knees. This then has an influence on the wear pattern of the joints. Early detection and correction can help reduce the risks of painful foot problems developing and can enhance both mobility and independence.

PFA can help assess foot health and advise on early intervention where indicated. Please contact us for more details.
