About

PFA is an independent company based in the south of England, specialising in footwear and lower limb orthotics. Founded in 1996, it has highly experienced staff on both the clinical and the technical side.

  • The Consulting Orthotist, Mr Alan Drew, has an Honours Degree in Biology and over 40 years experience in orthotics, much of it in specialist clinics dealing with the orthotic needs of amputees and other complex physical, physiological and neurological conditions. He is State-Registered and a member of the British Association of Prosthetists and Orthotists (BAPO).
  • PFA’s Manager, Mrs Sallie Drew M.A, has over 30 years experience in marketing and business administration in the UK orthotic field, as well as 10 years experience as an educator in the USA. She co-ordinates the stock product sales of the business and deals with all marketing and financial management.
  • Mrs Marion Paul C.O.M.T joined PFA in February 2004 as a Certified Orthopaedic Practitioner, with special expertise in Wound Care Management and Soft Cast Bracing. She treats leg ulcers and other tissue viability problems and can make and fit othopaedic splinting for sports and trauma injuries.
  • Mr James Drew BSc (Hons) MChS is a State Registered Podiatrist/Chiropodist. He is the latest addition to the PFA team, further adding to the range of available treatments. As well as working for PFA James is also associated with the Oving Clinic, a specialist centre for musculoskeletal and sports injuries.

The technicians and shoemakers are experienced makers of cosmetic and traditional calipers, made-to-measure footwear, and one-off designs for complex cases, and have considerable experience with making cosmetic functional orthoses.

A purpose-built clinic opened in March 2004, offering a plaster room, consulting room, a measurements laboratory and disabled access and toilet facilities. The clinic is adjacent to the orthotic workshop, making for speedy adjustments and alterations where needed. PFA is easily accessible by road via the A29 or A27, with good access from Southampton, Gatwick and Heathrow airports, and by rail links to Barnham Junction.

PFA is a member of the British Healthcare Trades Association, (BHTA), and holds the ISO2001 Quality certificate. It also operates a CE marking scheme for bespoke products.
